'Adolescence', 'The Studio' en 'The Pitt' grote winnaars bij Emmy Awards 2025

De 77e Emmy Awards stonden dit jaar in het teken van
enkele opvallende winnaars. Grote triomfen waren er voor de miniserie Adolescence,
de komedieserie The Studio en de dramaserie The Pitt. Daarnaast
schreef de ceremonie geschiedenis met meerdere primeurs en een aantal
verrassende overwinningen.
De Britse miniserie Adolescence ging er met zes
prijzen vandoor en was daarmee de grootste winnaar van de avond. Stephen Graham
won voor zijn hoofdrol in de serie en schreef daarnaast samen met Jack Thorne
geschiedenis door ook de prijs voor beste scenario te winnen. Philip Barantini ontving
de Emmy voor beste regie, terwijl Erin Doherty de prijs voor beste vrouwelijke
bijrol kreeg.
De toen 21-jarige Owen Cooper kroonde zich bovendien tot de
jongste mannelijke winnaar ooit in een acteercategorie, met zijn onderscheiding
voor beste mannelijke bijrol. Met ook de hoofdprijs voor beste limited of
anthology series zette Adolescence een uitzonderlijke prestatie neer.

In de categorie komedie was Seth Rogen de grote uitblinker.
Hij won vier Emmy’s voor zijn werk aan The Studio: beste komedieserie,
beste mannelijke hoofdrol, beste regie (samen met Evan Goldberg) en beste
scenario (samen met Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory en Frida Perez).
The Pitt kreeg de prestigieuze titel van beste
dramaserie. Hoofdrolspeler Noah Wyle won voor beste mannelijke hoofdrol,
terwijl Katherine LaNasa verrassend de prijs voor beste vrouwelijke bijrol
binnensleepte en daarmee onder anderen vier genomineerden uit The White
Lotus versloeg. De prijs voor beste vrouwelijke hoofdrol in een dramaserie
ging naar Britt Lower voor Severance, terwijl haar tegenspeler Tramell
Tillman de eerste zwarte man ooit werd die de Emmy voor beste mannelijke bijrol
in een dramaserie won.
Jean Smart won de Emmy voor beste vrouwelijke hoofdrol in
een komedieserie voor Hacks, terwijl haar collega Hannah Einbinder de
prijs voor beste vrouwelijke bijrol in een komedieserie pakte. Jeff Hiller
zorgde voor een verrassing door in de categorie beste mannelijke bijrol in een
komedieserie te winnen voor Somebody Somewhere, boven onder anderen
Harrison Ford.
Cristin Milioti won voor The Penguin in de categorie
beste vrouwelijke hoofdrol in een limited of anthology series. Verder ging The
Late Show With Stephen Colbert, ironisch genoeg twee maanden na de
aangekondigde stopzetting, met de prijs voor beste talkshow naar huis. The
Traitors won in de categorie realitycompetitie, terwijl Last Week
Tonight With John Oliver zowel de prijs voor beste geschreven
variétéprogramma als beste scripted varietyserie mee naar huis nam. SNL 50:
The Anniversary Special won de prijs voor beste live-variétéspecial,
waarmee het totaal van Saturday Night Live op 112 Emmy’s kwam.
